If you want to go back to the ancient times of our ancestors and get to know their way of life as well as folk architecture, the right place is the Museum of the Liptov village in Pribylina. It is a type of outdoor museum - open-air museum. The museum is a picture of a medieval mansion with privileges and rights of towns.
The Museum of the Liptov Village in Pribylina has been open to the public since 1991 and was built to preserve the most valuable movable and immovable monuments. Visitors can admire typical wooden residential and economic buildings, as well as two rare medieval stone buildings - the early Gothic Church of Our Lady of Liptovská Mara and the Gothic-Renaissance manor house from the village of Parížovce.
All buildings together create a unique composition of the historical and cultural environment of ancient Liptov. In the upper part of the museum there is a static exposition of the historic Považská forest railway. On selected days, you can enrich your visit by a short ride on a historic train. For great interest, it is necessary to book a ride in advance on the museum's website.
It is interesting that the museum has its own zoo exhibition, which focuses on breeding domestic animals and poultry. He also specializes in breeding Hucul horses. Visitors to the museum have the opportunity to ride these horses too.
