The Roy Sisters Museum holds the story of two extraordinary women whose work and deeds shaped Slovak society at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Kristína Royová was the most translated Slovak author, with her books even making their way to Chinese readers. Mária Royová, on the other hand, made history as the first Slovak female composer and the author of the first hymnbook in Slovak.
The museum offers insight into their phenomenal social work—caring for the ill, the elderly, the abandoned, and the addicted—with an empathetic approach that was ahead of its time and inspired generations to come. Beyond their literary and musical achievements, the Roy sisters became a symbol of spiritual awakening within Slovak evangelical churches.
A new feature in 2025 is the exhibition dedicated to alcohol and abstinence, reflecting current issues while connecting with the life values of the Roy sisters.
VISITS TO THE MUSEUM ARE BY PRIOR TELEPHONE ARRANGEMENT ONLY.
