The charming Classicist Yellow Manor House in Dunajská Streda has been the seat of the Museum of the Rye Island (orig. "Žitnoostrovské múzeum") since 1964. In its collecting activities, the museum focuses on the Rye Island region. The museum currently registers 8,809 pieces - collection items mainly from ethnography, history and art history.
The permanent exhibition today consists of 11 thematic units, including the archaeological and paleontological, historical and ethnographic sections. On the floor of the museum building, there is a permanent exhibition based on an extraordinarily rich ethnographic material documenting the former way of life of the people on the Rye Island.
In the permanent exhibition from 1972, the museum presents ethnographic material from the Rye Island. Visitors can see authentic peasant kitchen, kitchen with open chimney, peasant room, working tools of gold pansers, tools for spinning and weaving, room from Martovce, various monuments of life and activities of guilds, old weapons, coins and stamps.
Since 1990, archaeological and paleontological exposition, which presents prehistoric archaeological and paleontological findings from the district, has been on the ground floor of the building. Next to the mansion, an exhibition pavilion was built in 1986, where art exhibitions are currently held with various focuses. These premises also enable the realization of various lectures, conferences and creative workshops.
