Description
In a beautiful foothill village of Ždiar, which is a famous tourist center, there is a place where time seems to have stopped. This place is a complex of Ždiarsky dom (House of Ždiar), which became the seat of the Folk Museum. The whole building of the museum was built in 1971 according to models of wooden houses from 1911 and 1914.
In the living area, there is a permanent exposition of the interior, folk-costumes and work tools. The exhibition is constantly supplemented with new and rare exhibits that beams the history and folk art. In addition to an interesting sightseeing tour with expert and eye-catching commentary, visitors have the opportunity to experience a true wedding or dress in proper folk-costume.
In addition to the monument of folk architecture, there is also a restaurant where visitors can enjoy delicious food, local specialties or listen to the tones of Goral music. The museum also offers the possibility of buying postcards and souvenirs.
