One of the saddest places that remember heavy partisan fights is located in the remote areas of the Podjavorina region near the town of Stará Turá and the Moravian border.
In those days the settlement of the Nárcie spread out here. During the Slovak National Uprising, its inhabitants resolutely supported the anti-fascist resistance. At the time of the uprising, in 1945, nine partisans were burned alive by the German invaders, and the whole settlement was burned to the ground.
At present, the bitter fates of the people who were warned against burning and left their homes, are reminded by six symbolic foundations of the extinct burned settlement of Nárcie with memorable signs of the families that used to live there and a memorial to the victims of the anti-fascist resistance standing alone among the old trees.
