Description
The third highest peak of the volcanic mountain Vihorlatské Mountains is Nežabec. It is touristically still a little explored hill, which can offer you a relaxing and undisturbed hiking. It is located near Snina Rock.
The hill Nežabec is characterized by its peak rock protuberances. The peak is overgrown with dense forests, so do not expect views from there. However, you can enjoy the true atmosphere of untouched forests and nature sounds.
The peak belongs to the protected area of Vihorlatský prales (Vihorlat primaeval forest) and together with other forests in Vihorlat, they are part of a series of Carpathian beech forests in Ukraine and Slovakia registered in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List.
The Nezabec hill is accessible by marked hiking trails from Zemplínske Hámre (6.5 km), from the Morské oko lake (from the Krivec car park about 5.5 km) or from the village of Strihovce (6.5 km). The site of Vihorlatský prales includes a ridge red-marked hiking trail.
