Above the eastern Slovakian village of Obišovce, a conical hill called Zámčisko rises. This is the place where a medieval stone castle, from which only the ruins have been preserved, once stood. Obišovce castle was a typical refuge castle with a simple structure.
The castle complex itself was enriched by high ramparts and a relatively deep moat. Both parts as well as a large piece of dam wall can be seen with the naked eye even nowadays. Archaeological research was carried out at the Obišov Castle, thanks to which several castle fragments were uncovered. The castle probably disappeared in the 15th century at the time of the so-called Era of demolition of castles.
Preservation works are currently underway in the castle. The castle area is freely accessible. From the site is a nice view of the Slanske Hills, as well as the village Obišovce. The castle ruins are easily accessible directly from the village Obišovce. It is an undemanding and about 1 km long walk on the ridge.
