In 1988, a public observatory was opened for the public in Partizánske - Malé Bielice, the main focus of which is the popularization of astronomy, astronautics and related scientific disciplines.
Thousands of people visit the observatory in Partizánske every year, seeking to free themselves of the Earth's surface for a while and embark on the Milky Way. The observatory in its interesting and educational programs and lectures focuses not only on the public but also on schools.
The observatory building consists of a lecture hall for 68 visitors capacity, equipped with modern audio-visual technology, a dome of five and half meters in diamater and office space. The main astronomical instrument of the astronomical observatory is a special telescope with the most modern camera, which enables the projection of observed phenomena on the screen in the lecture hall.
The basic observation programs addressed to the general public are always held on Wednesdays, Fridays and the first Saturday of the month.
