The observatory in Banská Bystrica is a cultural and educational facility. Its activities are mainly focused on disseminating knowledge from astronomy and related sciences. It performs these activities primarily in the observation rooms at Vartovka.
Visitors thus have the opportunity to observe objects in the sky, or to expand their knowledge through lectures and discussions, which are accompanied by a video projection with an astronomical theme.
The Vartovka observatory is open to the public in April, May, June, September and October. In good weather, you can visit it from 17:00 to 22:00 on Fridays and from 10:00 to 17:00 on Saturdays.
In the case of interesting astronomical phenomena, the observatory is accessible after a telephone call also outside the visiting hours.
