An interesting technical work under the Sokol massif is the Old Tunnel of Kraľovany, which was built in 1871 on the Košice - Bohumín railway in the section Žilina - Poprad. The single-track tunnel was used for rail transport for several decades and finally served in 1950.
The old Royal Tunnel is 401 meters long. To date, it has been preserved in a relatively good condition, so every year it attracts visitors not only to tourists but also to railway enthusiasts. In the tunnel is also possible to admire the karst cave. Just find a hole in the wall of the tunnel that will take you to the 160 meter long karst corridor.
The tunnel is not passable and therefore it is possible to enter it only from one side, namely from the village of Kraľovany. The tunnel portal is already visible from the road, so you should not get lost. If you plan to enter the tunnel, be sure to take the flashlight with you.
