The nature of Liptov region is magical. Therefore, it is no surprise that it welcomes many tourists from entire Slovakia and abroad every year. One of the most popular peaks in the area is Ostredok Hill. This hill is the highest peak of the Greater Fatra and offers excellent tourism, enjoyed by all age groups of tourists.
Ostredok is characterized by its two peaks - the main southern and lower northern. Both are wide and grassy, providing perfect and unobstructed circular views, especially in the High, Low and Western Tatras, Kremnica Hills, Little Fatra, as well as the surrounding Great Fatra peaks.
The slopes of Ostredok are quite smooth and steep, so there is a danger of avalanches in winter. On the ascent route there is a shelter that serves as a hideaway from bad weather or for an overnight stay.
There are several marked hiking trails leading to Ostredok. However, they all start in the village of Liptovské Revúce, specifically in the Vyšná Revúca (about 11 km). More demanding tourists will certainly appreciate the circular route that leads through Ploská and Chyžky with return through Krížna.
