Description

The village of Buková is bordered by a steep hills of Záruby, where the ruins of the Ostrý Kameň castle (ie Sharp Rock Castle) have been preserved up to nowadays, rising from the dense forest. In the past, this castle, thanks to its strategic location, served as a border castle, which was built to protect the Czech road in the 13th century. The castle was destroyed during the Rákoci rebellion.

The ruins of the castle rise at an altitude of 576 meters, making it a beautiful and attractive hike in the womb of the Little Carpathians, which can be handled by smaller children. On Ostrý Kameň leads tourist mark from the village Buková (about 4km). The climb is not time consuming, but the last meters are more exposed and more demanding in terms of fitness.

A little longer and more demanding is the ascent of the hiking trail from Smolenice to the Záruby peak. Along this 6 km long route, you can see several interesting places. It is advisable to plan this as a whole-day trip.

From the ridge trail there are beautiful views not only of the ruins of the castle, but also of the wide surroundings.

„Dôležité spomenúť, že od Poľnohodpodárskeho družstva je zákaz vjazdu pre autá, čo sme najskôr prehliadli, avšak asertívna pani majiteľka v dome pri rázcestí nás hneď "privítala" a vyhrážala sa policajtami. Tak sme sa vrátili zaparkovať k družstvu, čím sa trasa predĺži o 2x1,4 km. “
