Description
The Bratislava City Gallery is by its size and importance the second largest gallery in Slovakia. Its activities are mainly associated with exhibiting a large collection of fine art in the form of permanent exhibitions as well as short-term exhibitions of Slovak and world art.
Its permanent exhibitions are installed in three historic palace buildings - Mirbach Palace, the Primate's Palace and Palffy Palace. The Palffy Palace is a building that offers a view of a number of major historical and architectural stages of the city's development.
In 1987, the Palffy Palace became the seat of the Bratislava City Gallery. There are four permanent exhibitions:
- Gothic painting and sculpture
- Celtic Mint in Bratislava
- A century and a half. Painting and sculpture 1800-1950
- STORIES and PHENOMENINES. 20th Century Slovak Fine Art II
