A beautiful piece of land that offers a unique view of the vast plains, mysterious forests, picturesque villages and majestic hills in every season. Location so close to the city, yet at the same time it is so distant from it. It is dominated by the hill of Panský diel, which was particularly popular with the inhabitants of Banská Bystrica.
Panský diel is characterized by its wide, grassy peak. It is located in Starohorské Hills above the village of Špania Dolina. During the warm months, it offers excellent and unpretentious tourism, but in winter it is especially popular with winter sports enthusiasts as there is a Šachtičky ski resort.
In every season, this beautiful mountain offers far-reaching views. You can enjoy views of region of Horehronie, Zvolen basin, Kremnica hills, Low Tatras, Greater Fatra and other hills. There is also a buffet that is open especially during the winter.
A blue-marked hiking trail leads to Panský diel, which starts on Pieninská Street in Banská Bystrica (approx. 4.5 km). Other options are trails leading from Špania Dolina (3.5 km), or from the settlement of Bully near Donovaly (green sign).
The hill is also a popular destination for many cyclists. There are several cycling routes leading here. If you have only road bikes available, we recommend a cycling route from Banska Bystrica along the asphalt road to the mountain hotel Šachtička. From there, it's just a short walk to the top.
