Located on the ground floor of a Baroque burgher house, the historic pharmacy "U červeného raka" (i.e. At the red crayfish) is now the seat of the Museum of Pharmacy in Bratislava. The original pharmacy was mentioned in the 16th century and was located in five rooms from the second half of the 18th century until its abolition and handover for museum purposes in 1953.
The Museum of Pharmacy attracts immediatelly every visitor upon their arrival. On the front of the building , there are the original signboards of the pharmacy with metal acanthus ornaments and crayfish from the end of the 19th century, which came from the Bratislava blacksmith firm named Márton.
The collection of the Museum has 8,500 items and nearly 3,000 volumes of old pharmaceutical literature, which is rarity in Slovakia. The permanent exhibition of the museum provides access to the history of pharmacy in Bratislava in the first of three rooms. The entrance room is furnished with furniture from the original pharmacy "U červeného raka".
In addition to furniture, visitors can also admire historical medical equipment and aids. The unique atmosphere of the room is also evoked by Baroque-Classicist paintings on the theme of healing with balustrade and three figural compositions on the vault.
