Description
Podpolianske Museum in Detva is located in the historical part of the city in the building of the former Municipal Office. The museum is one of the youngest Detvian cultural institutions since it was founded in 1994.
Podpolianske Museum deals with documenting and making available material and spiritual artefacts of the Podpoľanie region. It has several permanent exhibitions for visitors:
- exposition: Oh, my sheep ... Wallachian culture in Podpoľanie region
- historical exhibition: Detva in the context of Vigľaš estate
- exposition: From Detva to the Sea ... Julius Juraj Thurzo - the first Slovak sea captain
In addition to permanent exhibitions year - round, it also offers visitors presentation events such as cultural - educational activities, creative art workshops of a regional character, or short - term exhibitions.
