Description
If you are in the Low Tatras, Prašivá is one of the hills you should definitely not miss. When passing through the ridge of the Low Tatras, it is the first mountain in the order from Kozí Ridge and Hiadeľské Saddle.
The Prašivá Hill is truly unmistakable. It completes the charming panorama of the nearby town of Banská Bystrica as well as the surrounding villages. The ridge of Prašivá is smooth, almost without rocks, but with extremely steep north-west to north side slopes.
The ridge itself is covered with dwarf trees and its transition for panoramic views is one of the most beautiful ridge tours in Slovakia. Already at the very exit, you will discover beautiful views, but the most spectacular are offered by the very top.
The history is associated with Prašivá Hill too. During the Slovak National Uprising, it was a place of battle against the Nazis and so it is now possible to find various military material here.
The best access points to Prašivá are through the village of Hiadeľ (about 8 km), Liptovská Lúžna (about 10 km) and Korytnica - spa (about 6 km). The shortest ascent to Prašivá leads right from the Korytnica Spa, where you can also enjoy the great taste of its mineral springs. There are also marked cycling trails in the surroundings and you can combine the ascent with a cycling trip.
