In the south of Slovakia, between the villages of Kameničná, Zemianska Olča and Čalovec, there is a unique area of Dropie. It is a so-called environment of the so-called cultural steppe, which became the main wintering place of bustards in Slovakia.
The largest steppe bird - great bustard - lives there too. Outside Slovakia, the bustard is mainly living in the European part of Russia, Spain, Hungary and Ukraine.
In the vicinity of the protected area, there is also the Environmental Education Center of Slovak Environmental Agency of Dropie. If you come here, at first glance, you will be enchanted not only by the beautiful environment, which is the work of nature, but also by man-made** Sample natural garden** with great willows.
Part of the natural area is a lake, a fragment of a floodplain forest, a great bustard information center, a covered seating area, a fireplace and a playground.
There is also a farmyard with domestic animals to help keep the grassland habitat. The center also offers various educational programs in a playful way for schools and families with children.
