Pružinská Dúpna Cave offers a unique opportunity to stroll down the underground passage of one of the oldest caves in Slovakia. The entrance to the cave is located near the village Pružina on the slope of Čierny Hill at an altitude of 590 m.
The Proupin Cave of Pružina was probably founded more than 10 million years ago and besides prehistoric people it was also inhabited by cave bears and lions, as evidenced by findings of bones and skulls about 80 thousand years ago.
The Pružinská Dúpna Cave is approximately 300 meters long, but is not open to the public in its entire length. In the back part of the corridor, which is ended by a collapse, there are massive stalactites and stalagmites, the walls of the cave are covered with sinter covers and formations of various forms. The jewel of the cave is considered the so-called Christmas Hall. Its ceiling is made up of hundreds of snow-white drops, however, it is not accessible due to its uniqueness.
In some places of the cave it is possible to observe various inscriptions, most of them from the beginning of the 20th century. Pružinská Cave Doupna is open to the public from 1 May to 31 October, however, a visit *must be arranged in advance with the cavers by phone or email *.
Approximately 2 km long nature trail, which starts at the recreation facility Priedhorie in the village of Pružina, leads to the Pružinská Dúpná Cave.
