Perhaps everyone knows Púchov rock, whether as an excellent place for hiking, historical attraction or from the reputation of Janko Matúška. Anyway, Púchov Rock has a rich and famous history, as no other rock in Slovakia can boast of.

The Púchov Rock was once a majestic limestone formation, cut with large cracks into several parts. Since it has been the object of stone mining, today you can admire only a much smaller part and quarry, which is used as a relaxation zone.

Apparently, the most important fact connecting with the Púchov Rock is the fact that the people of an interesting prehistoric culture resided on it, and it was named Púchov culture according to this finding.

Púchov rock is currently mainly sought after by the locals. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the city. There is a gazebo and a fireplace where you can roast. From the top of the rock there is a nice view especially of the city and the surrounding area. There is a hiking trail from the town of Púchov leading to the rock and it is really at a stone's cast.
