Rainer's cottage boasts of an attribute - the first and oldest cottage in the High Tatras. It was built in 1863 by Ján Juraj Rainer. The so-called "Rainerka" is a shelter hut located at forest meadow "Starolesnianska poľana" in the mouth of the Studené Valleys.
Rainer's corrage was in 1998 reconstructed and opened by the current tenant Peter Petras. Until today, it serves as a cottage where visitors can find a snack in the buffet.
There is no accommodation here, but in the cottage, there is an engaging exposition of the history and present of mountain carriers, a collection of old mountaineering tools and old skis, and a number of documentary photographs.
The cottage is easily accessible from Hrebienok or Zamkovský Cottage. The tour is also suitable for families with children, who will surely be enchanted by the proximity of the beautiful Studený potok waterfalls.
Rainer's cottage is open all year round, and there are also various events taking place, such as the construction of a snow crib on Three Kings Day or various carrier races.
