The Dreveník National Nature Reserve together with the Rocky town is one of the unique jewels of the Slovak nature. It is the largest travertine mound in Slovakia. The Dreveník National Nature Reserve combines impressive rock towns, caves, climbing walls and beautiful countryside around.
The rocky town of Dreveník is approximately 2 kilometers long and is located close to other travertine mounds - Sobotisko, Spiš Castle Hill, Ostrá Hill or Sivá brada (Gray beard).** Since 1925, it has been a protected area** and since 1993, it has been one of the sites of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
The Dreveník rocky town complex itself is divided into two basic rock cities - Peklo (Hell) and Raj (Paradise). The names already tell us about the character of individual rocky places. The Hell is a gloomy tangle of narrow rocky corridors that hold up to 40 meters high walls. On the contrary, the Paradise is made up of various turrets.
The top plateau of Dreveník is also very impressive. From its highest point, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the surroundings - the Hornád Basin, the nearby Branisko, Volovské Hills and Levoča Hills. In addition to the outlook, you will also be captivated by typical karst forms - sinkholes and grikes.
The nature reserve of Dreveník includes about 4 km long marked tourist and educational trail from Spišské Podhradie and from the village of Žehra.
