The relatively little-known Rokoš Hill is located in the southern part of Strážovské Hills. Although tourists rarelly come here, the Rokoš Hill is a beautiful and unique place that nature has created and thanks to this, the hill ranks among the so-called Territories of European Importance.
Nature in this area is intact and left in its natural and wild vein. It offers excellent tourism in every season. In the spring and summer, its slopes are covered with colorful flowers, in the autumn, the Rokoš Hill is wrapped in golden tones and in winter, it is covered with a thick, frosty snow-white layer.
The southern part is characterized by typically steep rock formations with debris. From several sections, you can enjoy beautiful and possibly even dramatic views of the surrounding valleys, the vast towns, surrounding mountains or almost the entire Upper Nitra Basin, which you will have all lie open.
A few minutes walk from the main peak, there is a monument of famous natives from the nearby village of Uhrovec - Ľudovít Štúr and Alexander Dubček. Rokoš Hill is easily accessible, there are several marked hiking trails from the villages of Nitrianske Rudno (about 5 km), Uhrovské Podhradie (about 7 km), Diviacka Nová Ves, Diviaky nad Nitricou, as well as red marked ridge from Uhrovec.
You can also go to the top of Rokoš in the footsteps of the educational trail of Fraňo Madva, starting in Nitrianske Sučany (approx. 6 km). However, after some time, you need to turn to the blue-marked trail. Educational path passes through very nice and heavily exposed sections secured by chains. There is also a freely accessible cave named Brložná diera.
