Not far from the village of Kysak, right on the hill with the characteristic name "Hrad" (The Castle), are the ruins of the extinct Kysak Castle. It is a medieval castle, which was probably built on an older Slavic fort.
In written documents, Kysak Castle is associated mainly with the name of King Matthias Corvinus, who often hunted here. The castle was the seat of the Drienov, Ploské or Budimir branch of the Abov family. The Kysak Castle had a very convenient position from a defensive point of view. Thanks to the rock structures of the hill, the castle had an excellent defense system.
Even today it is possible to recognize the outlines of the former massive fortification, as well as the remnants of the castle and residential areas. The ruins of the castle can be accessed directly from the village Kysak forest paths (about 1km). A good waypoint is a transmitter located near the castle ruins.
