The village of Sokoľ is surrounded by an unobtrusive hill Hrádek, which is interesting in terms of history. It is here that the ruins of the medieval castle Sokoľ, which was probably built at the time of the expansion of stone castles in inaccessible terrains, are situated here. The castle probably disappeared in the middle of the 15th century, when it was demolished by the city of Košice.
Today, this site is almost completely engulfed in the forest and only here and there it is possible to see with the naked eye the remains of masonry with architectural details of the medieval castle or castle moat. The castle area is currently modified, with benches and there is a raised double cross. More information about the castle Sokó will offer tourists an installed information board.
Below the castle is the Castle Cave, whose length is about 27 meters. Probably it is for the most part artificially carved corridor, pointing approximately to the middle of the castle, under the tower. It is possible that it served as a cellar.
The easiest access to the ruins of the medieval castle is directly from the center of the village Sokoľ, where the visitor is directed by orange arrows from the bus stop to an about 6 km long nature trail.
