Saddle under Svišťovka Hill

The saddle below Svišťovka (2,023 m above sea level) is a shallow grass - rocky saddle just below Veľká Svišťovka Hill. The Tatra-Magistrale (red trail) passes through it. From the Saddle under Svišťovka, there is a wonderful view of the valley of the Zelené pleso (Green Mountain Lake) and the Lomnický Peak, accessible by a red tourist trail.

You can easily get to the Saddle under Svišťovka, as one of the few routes in the High Tatras, even in winter. It is a place through which one of the favourite routes leads to the Cottage at Zelené pleso. From the saddle, it is possible to continue in the ascent to Veľká Svišťovka (2037.4 m above sea level) or to descend towards Starý Smokovec.

It is interesting to note that in this locality, tunnels were dug in searching for gold. Three galleries have been preserved in the vicinity of the present sidewalk, but it is very difficult to recognize them with the naked eye.
