Perhaps nobody can imagine the metropolis of eastern Slovakia, Košice, without the legendary singing fountain and carillon. They are part of the breathtaking color scheme of the city, and each year they amaze many tourists with their beauty and uniqueness.
The singing fountain can be found in the park between Košice's landmarks - State Theater and St Elisabeth Cathedral.
The Singing Fountain was originally built in 1986, making it the oldest singing fountain in the former Czechoslovakia. The magic of the fountain lies in the water currents and lighting, which synchronously responds to its own music, carillon, but also to live music from the State Theater. The singing fountain will leave in every tourist an original and very valuable artistic experience.
In close proximity of the singing fountain, there is the mentioned Košice carillon. Its tones were first heard at the Košice City Day celebrations in 1997. The entire carillon consists of 22 bells, which symbolize the 22 city districts of Košice. The bells together weigh up to 1,400 kg.
