You may have already seen the Prague Astronomical Clock. Well, did you see the Slovak one? Come to see it in the village Stará Bystrica, where the first astronomical clock in Slovakia was built, which is also the largest wooden statue in Slovakia.
The astronomical clock strikes every hour from 8:00 to 22:00, when visitors can see the promenade of seven Slovak saints. And what can the astronomical clock be proud of? Surely by being the only astronomical clock in the world that shows the so-called right solar time.
The composition represents the sitting Madonna, Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows, who is the patron of Slovakia. In the individual astronomical niches you can see six bronze statues of prominent Slovak personalities - Prince Pribina, King Svätopluk, Anton Bernolák, Ľudovít Štúr, Milan Rastislav Štefánik and Andrej Hlinka.
The heart of the clock is the astronomical clock, the so-called astrolabe, from which data such as the date, the sun's time, the position of the sun in the sign of the zodiac, the position of the moon and the phase of the moon can be read.
The astronomical clock has its undeniable charm even in the evening, because at that time it lights up and you can admire its delicate and sophisticated technique and beauty in the dark.
Under the astronomical clock is the entrance to a small sales gallery, where works by both professional and non-professional artists are exhibited.
