The heart of Vihorlat Hills is a beautiful lake called the Little Sea Eye. This dam lake may be to some of you also known in the older name of Little Vihorlat Lake.
It was created by gradual landslide in the volcanic rock environment and is a natural monument with the highest degree of protection. Compared to the Sea Eye, it is incomparably smaller - it occupies only 0.4 ha and the maximum depth is 4 meters.
Little Sea Eye is part of the Vihorlat Primaeval Forest and this lake, as well as the neighbouring Sea Eye and its surroundings is included in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List.
It can boast of crystal clear water, which is the home of European crayfish, but also other aquatic animals or plants.
Little Sea Eye is accessible by two routes. You can set off from the village of Remetské Hámre by the blue marked trail and then follow the yellow trail right to the Little Sea Eye. But you can choose Zemplínske Hámre as a starting point and follow the yellow mark.
