Sokolie is a bounded part of the ridge of the northern mountain range of Little Fatra, and at the same time the highest peak in this locality with the same name. For tourists, the Sokolie massif is very attractive, because in many ways it resembles the Rozsutcov ridge.
The Sokolie massif is characterized by its compact shape of a ridge extending 4.5 km in length, while closing the Vrátna Valley in the north-west and Tiesňavy in the east.
The most indented part is the northern slope of the massif. There are several deep karst valleys that have been created by the creeks there. The richness of these rock formations abounds in the famous Obšivánka Valley. Thus, you can connect its visit to the ascent of Sokolie.
The ascent to Sokolie is accompanied by beautiful natural scenery. After the steepest climbs, you will have a beautiful rocky peak with the most amazing views of the surrounding countryside. From the nearby hills, especially peaks of Little Fatra will be protruding - Greater Rozsutec, Stoh or Poludňový grúň.
The Sokolie massif as well as the hill itself is easily accessible from Terchová (approx. 5 km) or from the Starý dvor parking lot (approx. 3 km). The location is a tangle of several hiking trails that will take you to a variety of places. You can also join the ascent to Sokolie with the passage through the exposed Zbojnícky Walkway.
