The Artists' Gallery of Spiš is one of the youngest collecting institutions not only in the region but also in Slovakia. It is located in the representative premises of a Renaissance town house from the 16th century in the center of Spišská Nová Ves.
The fundamentals of the collection come from the Spiš Museum in Spišská Nová Ves, but it has expanded to include works by Spiš artists and to this day it has 2073 pieces of art artefacts in the field of painting, drawing, graphics, illustration, photography, sculpture and intermediate works.
The gallery maps and presents mainly the work of artists with a priority focus on the Spiš region. The works of art from the collection are presented in three permanent exhibitions:
A memorial bust depicting Tivadar Kosztek Csontváry, who worked as a painter and pharmacist in Spišská Nová Ves, is also located in the exterior of the Artists' Gallery of Spiš. He is one of the most original representatives of Central European symbolism in the world. The original of this bust stands in front of the Csontváry Gallery in Pécs.
