The town hall square in Bardejov is bordered by the Gothic sacral building - Basilica of St. Giles. The temple is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and its origins date back to the 13th century.
The basilica is interesting for its exterior architecture. Equally interesting is the interior, which hides many valuable details and works of art. Perhaps the most remarkable is the sculpture The Stool of Grace in the divide of winged altar of St. Barbara, which was probably made in the workshop of Master Paul of Levoča.
11 late Gothic wing altars built between 1460 and 1520 are worth mentioning too, as they form a unique collection of altars preserved in one place. The most precious of them is the side altar of the Nativity.
A perfect way to finish your sight of this Bardejov landmark is certainly the charming view from the tower to the entire historic square and the city itself. If you come here, we recommend that you book a guided tour to learn a lot about the basilica.
