The cog railway Tisovec - Zbojská - Pohronská Polhora was established in 1896, especially for the needs of the developing metallurgical industry.
The railway was used for passenger and freight transport from the beginning. The main item of freight transport was coal, raw and processed iron, as well as construction and firewood.
Since its original cogwheel equipment has been lucky to survive the period of iron production decline in the second half of the 20th century, the railway could become a cultural monument in 2008.
This railway is the only place in Europe where you can enjoy a long forgotten ride experience with a cog-steam train on a normal gauge railway. You will be taken by a cog steam locomotive imported from Romania.
In addition to ride in a steam cog railway, you can also enjoy rides on historic moto-trains.
If you want to travel by train on the section Tisovec - Zbojská and back,it is necessary to book on by phone +421 905 287 583 or by email at listky@zubacka.sk no later than 2 days prior to the ride.
The cogwheel website also includes a plan for driving steam cogs and historic trains.
