

Štrbské Pleso (Štrbské Mountain Lake) is probably the most famous and most visited Tatra lake. it is located in the village of Štrba - local part: Štrbské Pleso.
Before the area became a ski and tourist mecca of Slovakia, it was a place of interest mainly for lumberjacks, herbalists, hunters and charcoal burners.
Štrbské Pleso is one of the three local parts of Štrba, in the foothills of the High Tatras, dominated by a moraine lake with the same name. This typical moraine mountain lake (called "pleso") is the second largest lake in Slovakia. You can get there by a cog rail from Štrba railway station.
The surroundings of Štrbské pleso is an important tourist resort of the Tatras. Staying at this resort is simply an unforgettable experience.
In the summer months, the Štrbské Pleso has a magical atmosphere and it is the only lake, where you can go boating and contemplate the beautiful nature overlooking the peaks of the Tatras.
From there, you can also take the cable car to Solisko, where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the magical Štrbské Pleso.
