In the woods, not far from the village of Sklené Teplice, there are hidden remnants of the Teplica Castle, which is almost unknown among tourists. The castle had an excellent strategic location, which pushed it to control the access road to Banska Štiavnica.
The castle was built during the 13th century, when the surrounding area belonged to the Archbishop of Esztergom. The last mention of the castle dates from 1602 and since then apparently only abandoned. A large part of the ruins was used as a building material by the inhabitants of Sklenice for the construction of the local church.
The location is particularly suitable as undemanding hiking in a beautiful natural environment. A 2.5 km long hiking trail from Sklenné Teplice leads to the ruins. The trail in the last meters leads through the old castle road to the former first gate. From the highest point there is a nice but limited view.
