Borský Mikuláš is the birthplace of the poet Ján Hollý. In the middle of the village, you can find his native house from the second half of the 18th century. In 1957, it was reconstructed and its memorial room was made available for the public.
The exhibition dedicated to Ján Hollý with his authentic equipment realistically documents the environment in which the poet was born, spent his childhood and where he returned in later periods as a student and priest.
The house is a historical cultural monument. It has two rooms - kitchen and one room, which served as a dining room, bedroom and living room. In the garden of the family house, there is a monument carved from natural stone, dedicated to the memory of John Hollý. Its sculptural decoration is made of a bronze statue of a poet in above life-size.
Visits must be agreed in advance at the Municipal Office in Borský Mikuláš. Entry to Ján Hollý's home is free.
