The mysterious Tribeč Mountains offer unique places with a rich history. Such a place is Vrchhora, where the remains of a Renaissance church and a Baroque chapel are hidden in a dense forest.
The hill was a pilgrimage place until the 19th century, and therefore, the Church of St. Michael was built there in 1640 and next to it, you can see the chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, which comes from the mid-18th century. The chapel is reconstructed and its interior houses a folk polychrome sculpture Pieta from the 18th century.
The locality is accessible from the village Veľký Klíž along approx. 3km long marked tourist trail. From the ruins of the church on Vrchhora, you can continue on the so-called Michael's Hill, which provides a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains Tribeč.
