Beautiful Tichá dolina (Silent Valley) is the first valley in the High Tatras, if you are coming here from the west. It is also the first among the valleys in terms of length. This 17 km long valley is lined in the west by the ridge of the Liptov Tatras, in the east by the Liptovské Kopy, in the north and north-west by the state border with Poland.
The valley is not characterized by a typical alpine character, because all that is missing here are the beautiful lakes and rocky sills. However, it offers excellent hiking opportunities. But also cycling enthusiasts will not get bored here. The Tichá dolina is ideal for cycling wanders due to asphalt roads with minimal ascent.
For tourists there are also shelters, where you can take a little break in your hike, relax and refresh yourself. The valley also offers beautiful views. In its upper part, you can admire the ridge of the Liptov Hills, in the north you can see the Červené vrchy (Red Hills) and there is a nice view of the Tichá voda stream.
The starting point to Tichá dolina is Podbanské. There is a tourist path leading through the axis of Tichá dolina, which leads to the saddle of Závory (about 17 km). And it represents the end of this fabulously beautiful and wild valley. In the Závory Saddle, you will have a wonderful view of Temnosmrečianske Mountain Lakes with Vajanský Waterfall.
