Priečne Saddle - 2352 m asl

One of the highest situated Tatras saddles accessible to the tourist public is the Priečne Saddle. It is especially sought after by more demanding tourists and also by lovers of steep mountain ranges.

It is located between the Široká veža (Wide Tower) and Priečna veža (Lateral Tower) at an altitude of 2 352 m asl. Thanks to its specific alpine terrain, Priečne saddle is known as the most demanding marked tourist route in Slovakia. In the most critical sections, the route is secured by chains and risers.

If you overcome a height difference of 1600 meters, a challenging ascent - you may need to use all your strength and capabilities - the top section with panoramic views will be the best reward.

The Priečne Saddle is transient in both directions. You can get to it from Téry's Cottage or the Brigand Cottage. The trail leads through a yellow hiking trail that connects some of the most beautiful Tatra valleys - the Little Valley and the Great Cold Valley. The starting point for these cottages is mostly Starý Smokovec and Hrebienok (about 9km).
