Velestúr is the fifth highest peak rising in the main ridge of Kremnické Hills. It is certainly not unknown to tourists, as it is one of the relatively well-visited hills. In addition to excellent tourism in the unspoiled nature of the Kremnické Hills, Velestúr Hill, however, also hides mysteries and secrets, which have not been clarified to date.
On the majestic andesite rock, there is an ancient runic inscription, which is covered with a veil of mystery. For years, it has attracted historians or cryptologists trying to clarify this inscription. Over the decades, several hypotheses have arisen which explain the content as well as the origin of this inscription.
Several sacrificial places with wooden Old Slavonic idols were created around the rock with the inscription. This fact also suggests that the place is also sought by followers of modern pagan religions or several conspirators.
However, the site is full of interesting places and nooks waiting to be discovered. Just look around and walk through the forests. Near the top, there is a cottage called Hostinec, which is popular among cross-country skiers.
Velestúr Hill is accessible on several marked hiking trails. Perhaps the most beautiful climb is from the village Malachov (about 6 km), because you can stop along the road at anothet attraction -Ortútske Lake. You can also get here from Kremnica, or from the village of Horné Pršany near Banská Bystrica.
