The western part of the Low Tatras is beautified by Veľká Chochuľa, the highest peak of this part. This mountain is very popular among tourists, despite the long climb. Veľká Chochuľa is characterized by a homogeneous, grassy and partly granite peak.
As one of the few hills in this part of the Tatras, it offers a stunning circular view. Nothing will stop you and you can really enjoy it. With good visibility, it is possible to see all the surrounding peaks up to a distance of more than 40 km. From the top of Veľká Chochula, you can admire the Greater Fatra, Liptov Basin, Choč Hills, West Tatras or Kriváň.
If you choose to go through the ridge of the Low Tatras for several days, the Veľká Chochuľa hill is ideal for overnight stays. The one-day hike traditionally begins in the village of Brusno from where it is about 13 km along the green tourist trail and it is probably the easiest route to the top. However, good alternatives are also Korytnica, Hiadeľ or Ráztoka.
