Description
Veľký Grič is an inherent landscape dominant near the town of Handlová. This volcanic hill belongs to the popular mountain range of Vtáčnik. The impressive Veľký Gríč is unmistakable. From afar, it demonstrates its monumental andesite rocks, which clearly emerge from the surrounding dense forest. Together with the neighboring hill Malý Grič represent an excellent tourist destination.
The ascent to Veľký Grič is not so difficult. The less able-bodied will have to make a little more effort in last exit meters, which are really steep. However, you will be rewarded with beautiful views from a rocky view point. You'll have the whole town of Handová and the surrounding area lie open.
Tourists who love the slightly more actionable ascent routes will be delighted by the fact that the eastern wall of Velky Gric offers an attractive ascent route, which is provided by technical aids. This route is not very well known, but it is definitely worth discovering and trying.
Classical and undemanding marked routes lead from Handlová (approx. 4 km), from Veľká Lehôtka (approx. 5 km) or from the village of Cígeľ.
