On the border with the Republic of Hungary, in the southern part of the Slanské Mountains, there is an area of European importance - Milič. Milič volcano massif is distinctly divided and consists of several separate units, the most important of which is a large-scale stratovolcano Veľký Milič.
Veľký Milič rises above the picturesque village of Slanská Huta. The ascent route is initially unpretentious and pleasant, perhaps only the last meters are steeper, but certainly the climb can be handled by tourists of all ages. Veľký Milič offers hiking in a beautiful forest environment, which is enriched with various rock formations of volcanic origin.
At the very top, there is a border post with the Republic of Hungary. From here, you will enjoy beautiful, though partially limited, views. You will have a wonderful and direct view of the nearby Slaný Castle. From the top, we recommend to get about 600 meters south-east along the green hiking trail, which will take you to the lookout tower called Karolyi Lookout.
Good and relatively traditional starting points for the border hill are the villages Slanská Huta, Skároš, Slanec or recreation center of Izra. The easiest access is from the village Slanská Huta (about 5 km), which is also equipped with several information boards.
