Description
Volovec Hill is a charming two thousander, which will not leave any tourists cool. Its vast slopes copy the Slovak - Polish border and for many, it is a popular stopover when crossing the most popular part of Roháče - Ostrý Roháč and Plačlivé.
The ideal location of the Volovec Hill ensures that the summit parts provide beautiful, far and undisturbed panoramic views, which are undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the Western Tatras. In ideal weather, you will be able to admire the peaks of Derava, Kasprov vrch, Ostrý Roháč, Plačilivý, Baranec, Pachole, Spálená, Salatín, Brestová with Roháčske Mountain Lakes, but also majestic peaks of the High Tatras.
Volovec is easily accessible, for example, ascent from Ťatliak cottage (about 3km). If you want to go through the Roháče, an excellent starting point is Chata Zverovka from where you continue towards Roháčská dolina. Whether crossing the Roháče Mountains or just climbing the Volovec Hill is quite demanding in terms of fitness.
