Natural treasures of the Center Považie region undoubtedly include the charming and somewhat mysterious Vršatské bradlá (Vršatec Cliffs), which are part of the White Carpathians. This massive limestone massif is unmistakable and easily visible from a distance. They are very popular among tourists as well as occasional hikers, as evidenced by their numerous visits.
Vršatské bradlá have the shape of whitish needles, walls and towers, which rise above the surrounding rich green forests. Besides the beautiful nature and unique rock formations, Vršatskébradlá are also interesting from a paleontological point of view.
There are many fossils of shallow sea in the limestones that form these cliffs. In the past, limestone cliffs also protected Vršatec Castle, which stood here, but only ruins remained to this day. The castle belonged to a group of guard castles that secured the border of Kingdom of Hungary.
The area leads about 6 km long nature trail, which begins in the village of Vršatské Podhradie. The trail is round and equipped with 10 information panels that will guide you through the nature of the White Carpathians, inform youabout local attractions and acquaint you with the royal history of this site. During the whole tour, you can enjoy, in addition to educational knowledge, beautiful views of the landscape of Center Považie, the flowing Váh and mountains around.
