Description
Even today, the nature around Zvolen shows its magical power and mightiness to all tourists. You can find natural wonders near the village of Hrochoť. One of its breathtaking wonders is the Wandering "Bátovský" boulder.
This huge natural phenomenon is declared a natural monument under supervision of the Poľana protected landscape area. It is ocated on the left side of the road from Hrochoť to Kyslinky. Although it is less known, this place is definitely worth taking a small trip with the whole family. Even your chits can handle an easy walk to this boulder.
The boulder can be reached easily by car, but you can enjoy the surrounding atmosphere perfectly by walking or cycling on the large Poľana circuit.
The boulder is a solitary, massive 14 meter high and 8 m wide agglomerate stone block that can be seen from afar. In its upper, part it is covered with grass and small trees.
The reason for its protection is the need to preserve its scientific and aesthetic value for other generations. Also noteworthy is that a typical volcanic pear-shaped bomb is seen between the solidified volcanic material, which indicates that it was still in a semi-liquid state at the time of impact.
