The beautiful Orava nature welcomes many lovers of hiking and natural beauty every year. In its mountains and valleys, it hides extremely rare and unique natural phenomena.
One of such impressive creations of nature is the monumental Šútovský Waterfall near the villages of Šútovo and Kraľovany. This beautiful 38 meters high waterfall is also the highest waterfall in Little Fatra.
You can get to it via several hiking trails. The fastest route leads along the approx. 3.7 km long stony marked trail through the forest from Šútovo. This is an unpretentious route that you can easily take with smaller children.
The Šútovský Waterfall is fed by the waters of the Šútovský Creek, which springs in the interesting rock formation called Moses Springs. The springs are further 1 km from the waterfall. The stream has a width of 2.5 meters directly above the waterfall.
And when you go to the Šútovský Waterfall, do not bypass the lake. This will turn into a natural swimming pool during the hot summer months.
Šútovské Lake has a beautiful turquoise colour with crystal clear water. It was created at the site of a former quarry that was flooded. The surrounding terraces of the lake will remind you of the scenes from the movie Winnetou.
