Muránska Plain is a beautiful location with many hiking trails that will take you to the most amazing natural rarities. However, the Muránska Plain National Park hides natural treasures even under the earth's surface in the form of cave corridors.
Many of them, however, remain hidden from the eyes of tourists. Only one of them is open to the public, the Wesselényi Cave. This cave is situated near Muráň Castle. Wesselényi's cave is 16 meters long and was named after the Hungarian magnate František Wesselényi, who was the Lord of the Muráň castle.
Wesselényi's Cave has no traditional stalactic decoration, but it is a pleasant variegation of tourism in this area.
The cave is easily accessible on marked hiking trails that lead from the villages of Muráň (approx. 3.5 km) and from Muránska Huta (approx. 3.5 km). We recommend to combine the trip to the cave with a visit to the nearby ruins of Muráň Castle.
