Žarnov Hill is located in the attractive volcanic mountain of Vtáčnik. Like many hills in this mountain range, Žarnov is made up of rocks and various rock formations. It is quite popular among tourists, probably because it is close to other hefty volcanic hills Buchlov, Kláštorská skala (Monastery Rock) or Vtáčnik.
The andesite peak of Žarnov Hill is best seen from the villages of Oslany and Horná Ves, which seem to be guarded by it. The summit rock steeply descends by the rocky cliff on the south side. Most of the peak belongs to the Buchlov Nature Reserve. After not so demanding ascent to the top parts, beautiful views open especially to the adjacent Upper Nitra Basin.
Žarnov Hill is very well accessible and manageable in every season. The best marked trails lead from villages of Oslany (approx. 7km), Horná Ves (approx. 4km), but you can also get here from the village of Veľké Pole.
