The fairy-tale Valley of the Zelené pleso (Green Mountain Lake) is reigned by glittering lake with a romantic atmosphere, one of the most beautiful in the entire national park.
The Green Mountain Lake is surrounded by the massif of the Little Kežmarský Peak, Veľká Svišťovka Hill, Predné and Zadné Jatky and Bujačí Hill, which create the wild mountain character of the whole valley. It has a moraine character and is located at 1,545 m above sea level. Its name is derived from extraordinary and very striking green colour, which is connected with several rumours or romantic fables.
The access from the White Water Valley is unpretentious and therefore the Green Mountain Lake is a popular tourist destination. Nearby the lake, there is a high mountain chalet at Zelené pleso (also called Brnčalova chalet), which is sought by tourists, cyclists, mountaineers and skiers for particularly suitable terrain conditions for these sports.
If you still have enough power and taste, you can extend the hike to Green Lake by climbing up to Jahňací štít (Lamb Peak) or continuing to Skalnaté pleso (Rocky Lake) and returning via Folvarská poľana (forest glade) via the blue trail.
